Travellers must take China-made COVID-19 vaccine to get Chinese visa

  Apart from India, such notices have been put up by the Chinese embassies in 19 countries including Pakistan, South Korea, Australia, Greece, Nigeria, Israel, Italy, Indonesia, and Norway. The Chinese Embassy in India has announced that it will start issuing visas to those travellers who have taken a Chinese-made Coronavirus vaccine and possess the certificate of the vaccination. In a statement, the Chinese Embassy stated that it will facilitate measures for people who plan to travel to China in order to resume their work, carry on their employment contracts, or do some other relevant work. However, for the Indian travellers the criteria will be an issue as the Coronavirus vaccines made by China will not be available in India. Tanzanian President John Magufuli passes away at 61

  Magufuli, who usually made weekly public appearances at Sunday church services, had been missing from the public eye for almost three weeks since February 27th, fueling speculations that he was ill.  Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli  passed away at the age of 61 years on March 17, 2021. The news was shared by the Tanzanian government. Tanzanian Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan shared,  "It is with deep regret that I inform you that today on the 17th of March, 2021 at 6:00 pm we lost our brave leader, the President of the Republic of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli."   The Vice President said that the President had died of a 'heart condition' which he suffered for almost a decade at a hospital in Dar es Salaam. According to Hassan, the President had first been briefly admitted to the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute on March 6th but was subsequently discharged. US House of Representatives passes law to reauthorise Violence Against Women Act

  The legislation seeks to provide grants to state and local governments for programs addressing violence against women including domestic abuse, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. The US House of Representatives on March 17, 2021 passed a legislation to reauthorise the  Violence Against Women Act (VAWA),  which was originally introduced by President Joe Biden but lapsed in 2019. The lawmakers in the US House voted largely along party lines 244-172 to approve the legislation. IBSA held 6th women’s forum meeting, ministers reaffirm their commitment to address women-centric issues

  The India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Trilateral Cooperation Forum is a very unique platform that brings together three major economies and large democracies from three different continents. The 6th   edition of India-Brazil- South Africa women’s forum meeting took place on March 16, 2021, via video conferencing. The meeting was led by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, India and it witnessed the participation of officials and ministers responsible for women affairs of IBSA nations. The session of the forum was started with the welcome and opening remarks of the Secretary of Women and Child Development, India. The inaugural address was delivered by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani who was also the Chair of the 6th IBSA Women’s Forum.
